How Can You Help the Pittstown Food Pantry?
There are several ways to help the Pittstown Food Pantry. Take a look below and see which option best fits you.
Donate Food
There are a couple of ways to donate food to the food pantry. One is to donate individually. Remember us when you do your spring pantry cleaning. We accept all non-perishable food donations, as long as the container is not damaged and the expiration date has not passed. Another great way to donate individually is by keeping our standard food list handy (on your fridge or where you make your grocery list). When you look at sale ads, keep our list in mind and then purchase those items on sale.
You can help by having a food drive. Donating as a group can also be a very effective way to bring in large amounts of food in a fairly easy way. Consider having a food drive at work, church functions, or birthday party. Ask your club or sports organization to have a fundraiser. This benefits both parties, as you create a sense of unity within your group by coming together to help others, and the food pantry receives the things you bring in. If possible give us a call to check out our most needed time for a food drive and to see if we have any particular needs at the time.
Donate Funds
Don’t have time to gather a bunch of things to donate? Consider a monetary donation. Donating money is a good option for someone who wishes to help keep our shelves full, but does not have time to either go purchase food or arrange a food drive within their business, church, or organization. Having money donated allows us to purchase the items we most need, therefore, helping us in the most efficient way possible. Just $1 can help provide 6.25 pounds of food. All donations will be put to use in the most effective way possible to fulfill our mission to feed the hungry in our community.
No donation is too small, it all helps. All food and monetary donations can be brought to the Pittstown Area Food Pantry, located at the Town of Pittstown Town Hall (lower driveway),
97 Tomhannock Road, Valley Falls, NY. We are open Tuesday 6:30pm to 7:30pm; and Saturday 9:00am to 10:00am.
Our clients are always very grateful for whatever we can give.
Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide, even if it is simply spreading the word to let others know of the need.
